Soil Health

Healthy soil provides essential nutrients, water retention, reduced soil erosion, and a balanced ecosystem for beneficial organisms. All which may lead to enhanced crop yields. Murray SWCD supports many soil health practices including cover crops, strip/no till, waterways, and sediment control basins. Contact Murray SWCD for possible cost-share to implement these soil health practices.

RCPP Soil Health Grant

The RCPP Soil Health Grant supports projects that improve soil quality, enhance water retention, and promote sustainable land management practices. Funding is provided to implement practices such as cover cropping, reduced tillage, and nutrient management that increase soil organic matter, reduce erosion, and improve overall farm and watershed resilience.

$35 per Acre Single Species Cover Crop

$45 per Acre for Multi-Species Cover Crop

$35 per Acre for Strip/No-till 

Multi-Year contracts for Agricultural Soil Health Practices may be Available

75% Cost-Share for Conservation Cover
